Crayon Crunch: The Monkey by sambees Crayon Crunch: The Monkey by sambees
Crayon Crunch gift art for :iconpagodacomics: of their character, Enko who represents the monkey and is very monkey like, I decided to try and push that further and give her actual monkey atributes. I really like doing these CC trade ones because I get so much creative freedom to try new things with the characters I'm given

I love your texture you have for coloring. Do you hand water color them? Its the cloest thing I can think of. If not what do you use? if its not too much to ask.

The texture is a watercolour texture :) They're easy to make even if you don't have the resources to make one from scratch with some scanned paper towel and staining. This artist here has some great ink textures as well: jungshan.deviantart.com/galler… if you're looking for something nice and tactile! I havn't had a chance to use them yet, but I have downloaded all of them and they look great, particularly the first one listed there.

You probably get this question a lot, but what kind of brush to you use for line work? Or is it just scanned pencil lines?

It depends on the picture, a lot of the stuff I do is scanned from pencil or ink. If I go digital I like to use stumpy pencil preset, partly because I like how it looks and partly because I'm usually using it together with scanned stuff and I want to keep consistant.
